A COOK COUNTY RAPE VICTIM begs the Illinois Prisoner Review Board not to release her attacker who killed and raped multiple women and who is sentenced to 1,500 years in prison, yet inexplicably is up for release every year.

Charles Weger, serving his time in prison for the infamous Starved Rock Murders, is denied clemency in 2007.
At the hearing in 2008 at the prison before the PRB on August 20, 2008 the Oetting family gratefully reports that
he was unanimously denied parole! *
The family traveled and went to a great deal of trouble to be at these hearings.
Write to the PRB to comment on Weger's release.

*One Concern: The Oetting family was denied a "three year set" - one option that the PRB has to give to victims families. They apparently cited some possible "new evidence" in his case. We note this as problematic because it is not EVER up to the PRB to determine the important questions of Guilt or Innocence. They are only allowed to evaluate the criteria regarding parole for the pre-1978 cases  in their enabling statutes and assume complete guilt of the offender. Any questions about Weger's guilt can only be addressed in a Court of Law. We urge the PRB to reinstate the three year set for this family that they usually had, especially since they voted unanimously to deny him early release.

The family of the victim killed by Jose Correa, #N11113, is planning ahead already for 6 years from now when his determinate sentence makes him eligible for release. This is not a "parole" case because it is post-1978 and the rules for his release are fixed and less discretionary by the PRB. They will only monitor his and evaluate his good time credits.
Write to the Prisoner Review Board regarding his release to express your opinion.
