On November 30, 2004 300 cities around the world lit up their monumental architecture as a statement against the death penalty. The group also sponsors prison support programming. www.handsoffcain.org Hands Off Cain - an international organization working to abolish the death penalty worldwide. www.exonerated.org The Life After Exoneration Program supporting the unique needs of men and women exonerated and released for crimes they did not commit. www.innocenceproject.org A non-profit legal clinic and resource center for wrongful convictions www.humanwrites.org An English non-profit that tries to help inmates on death row in the US. www.uaa.alaska.edu/just/death/issues.html University of Alaska Anchorage Justice Center - working to keep the death penalty out of Alaska. www.journeyofhope.org The Journey of Hope travels the country focusing on a different state each year in an effort to eliminate the death penalty. www.1000executions.org As the United States approaches its 1000th execution since the resumption of executions in 1977, more and more people understand that the death penalty makes mistakes, disproportionately affects the poor and people of color, doesn't deter crime, and is expensive, arbitrary, and immoral.
